This page lists several online funding databases (in order of GSGFO preference) available to graduate students looking for external funding opportunities for their projects.

Illinois Research Information Service (IRIS)

IRIS is a user-friendly database consisting of over 8,000 grant and fellowship opportunities covering over 25 subject areas. To access IRIS, you need to be connected to a NIU server. Before using IRIS, be sure to check out our IRIS Help Sheet.

GrantSearch
http://www.aascu.org/grc/gs/

GrantSearch is sponsored by the Grants Resource Center, and is another user-friendly database for funding opportunities. You need to be connected to an NIU server to access GrantSearch.

Graduate and Postdoctorate Extramural Support (GRAPES)
http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/grpinst.htm

UCLA sponsors this database, which catalogues over 350 major awards, fellowships, scholarships, and internships for graduate and postdoctoral scholars. Some awards are only for UCLA students.

This website offers detailed and up-to-date information on approximately 600,000 financial aid opportunities. Registration is not required. Also provides Spanish search engine as well.

This site offers short descriptions, contact information, and web links to programs in federal agencies, foundations, and international organizations that specifically fund behavioral and social science research.

Foundation Center

An online database of more than 6,000 foundation and public charity programs that fund students, artists, researchers, and other individual grantseekers. Comprehensive directory offers links to private foundations, corporate-giving programs and other sources of nonprofit funding.

FastWeb
http://www.fastweb.com

This site offers access to over 375,000 awards and other funding opportunities, but requires that you offer personal information and open a FastWEB mailbox so that you may check your search results.

This is a searchable database of biomedical and science education funding opportunities.
