The American Revocery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) allocates billions of dollars to major federal funding agencies, such as NIH and NSF, for research and development. These funds must be obligated by September 30, 2010. Since many agencies are reconsidering proposals that were recently submitted, but not funded, in order to meet this requirement, researchers are encouraged to contact their program officers to discuss the possibility of having recently declined proposals reconsidered for ARRA funding.
A summary of ARRA is available on the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Website.
U.S. Rep. Bill Foster has released a guidebook to help navigate stimulus act grants and to help determine eligibility for ARRA funding.
Please note that awards including ARRA stimulus funds will involve special reporting requirements, in addition to the sponsoring agency's standard requirements. Recipients of ARRA funds will need to work with Grants Fiscal Administration to ensure that all necessary reporting requirements are fulfilled.
